Say no to Circus Mondao in the Valleys

Circus Mondao are due to come to Bargoed/Tir-y-Berth from the 1st - 6th of May. This circus features performances by animals including zebras, camels, llamas, pigeons and more - a soon to be banned practice.

Videos from concerned audience members have surfaced showing stressed animals kept in bad conditions. These animals are forced to perform in front of noisy crowds and are regularly transported around the country.

Forcing animals to perform in circuses is not ok - set an example and do not visit this circus!

Why is this important?

Forcing animals to perform in circuses is unethical, outdated and wrong.

According to the RSPCA who have fought hard for many years to get the use of wild animals in circuses banned, 97% of the public support the incoming ban. This shows that people do not want circuses that feature animals to be able to perform.

As well as wrongly using animals, the staff from this circus have also been known to leave abusive/misogynist comments on animal rights campaigners posts, leaving animal faeces in spots where campaigners stand and are also renowned for littering.

Circus Mondao's last show here is happening as we speak - a massive thank you to all 600+ of you that pledged to boycott this despicable circus, have encouraged others to do the same and have spoken up for animals.

While I hope that this petition can be used in future to show how strongly people feel about animals being exploited in circuses as the ban goes through, there is another that is currently live and asking the Welsh Government to ban the use of all animals in circuses.

Please sign this too, together we can make sure that no animal has to suffer for entertainment here in future. Thanks :) xx

Hi to all 520 (and growing) of you! It's been a crazy few days since Hefin David AM shared this petition - I have had both positive and negative reactions (including from the ring mistress of the circus herself haha) but I have done my very best to ensure that our voices are heard. While people may want to delude themselves that there is nothing wrong with having animals in circuses to relive themselves from their own guilt, we all know that this isn't true!

With today being the start of the Bank Holiday weekend, it will mark what are likely to be the busiest of Circus Mondao's shows. Please continue to urge all to boycott, including your friends, families and any business owners you may know (removal of posters is a bonus).

Thanks again and keep urging all not to go to Circus Mondao :)

Circus Mondao have now started setting up in Tir-y-Berth. I have been informed that there is nothing the council can do to stop them as they are using private land and a ban is not yet in place.

If they can’t do anything then it is down to people power to boycott this circus by not attending and encouraging everyone we know not to either.

Thank you so much for your support so far - please say no to Circus Mondao.
