Better Pay and conditions for Drivers (HGV, C+E)

For many years now HGV drivers have been underpaid, especially by recruitment agencies, there is no industry wide pay structure, with many drivers being under paid, and ripped off.
While the haulage industry owners have the FTA and RHA, the drivers on a whole have no one to represent them, with most not being in a union.
To make ends meet many drivers have to work long hours, many drivers work between 12 and 15 hours a day, and many don't get overtime as such, if they are paid it is often for less than time and half like other industries
We would also like parking spaces improved nationwide, with most parking on service stations on the motorways being overpriced, and the services they provide is totally inadequate.
The parking facilities off the motorways in town areas again inadequate with many councils banning parking on industrial estates and the like, given that most HGV's deliver to these areas it would be convenient for parking on or close by.

Why is this important?

As there is a current driver shortage within the UK, it is important that Drivers pay and conditions were improved, having a structured pay system like other industries, and better conditions for parking would improve the recruitment in the transport industries.
We want to have better facilities for drivers, there are not enough truck stops in the country, those that there are overcharge and the facilities are inadequate
Nationwide
