Bottle and Can Return Policy
Pass legislation that: (1) adds a deposit to the purchase price of everything in bottles (plastic and glass) and cans (all metals), (2) requires all retailers of products sold on bottles and cans to refund deposits to anyone who brings them in and (3) commissions a state-supported programme of collection and recycling.
Why is this important?
This is essential to remove all bottles and cans from the environment. It would mark the UK as a world leader in environmental protection, encouraging other countries to follow suit. Vulnerable ecosystems (e.g. 3rd world water supplies, the Pacific) would be protected.
