Bring back the Aberystwyth to Carmarthen Rail Line

Bring back the Aberystwyth to Carmarthen Rail Line

We call on the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to re-open the train line from Carmarthen to Aberystwyth. We believe this is vital for the local communities and the Welsh economy as a whole as it will allow the transition of people and services to areas which are otherwise isolated.

Why is this important?

This will support the local economies and create a more fluid connection between North and South Wales. At present the only rail connections from North to South Wales must divert through England.

Reasons for signing

  • Easy travel around Wales by rail is impossible. The present routes are an embarrassment and don't serve the people of Wales or visitors to our beautiful country. To build on Wales, we need this line to be re-established - one of many.
  • This would connect North and South Wales, increase tourism and economy and hopefully be less traffic on the rural roads reducing accidents.
  • Desperate need for better and cleaner transport links in Carmarthen/Ceredigion. Will provide much needed infrastructure, boost local economy and tourism. Build it as a light modern electric railway and find a use for some of those wind turbines
