To: Jacob Rees-Mogg and the Conservative Party
Call for Jacob Rees-Mogg to apologise and to resign
Jacob Rees-Mogg has never been a saint. However, his comments on the victims of the Grenfell tragedy were beyond disgraceful.
Regardless of intention, to even merely imply that those who died lacked 'common sense' in that situation is despicable and downright unforgivable.
We call for Rees-Mogg and the Tory Party to do the first decent thing many of them will have done in their lives and come forward, for him to profusely apologise on the public stage for his words, and to announce his immediate resignation from the Cabinet, the Tory Party, and politics outright.
This may seem dramatic, but for far too long has Rees-Mogg and various members of the Tory Party gotten away with horrific comments and statements that insult and degrade ordinary people.
This petition may not achieve that, but we want to show Rees-Mogg and the Government that we are angry. We won't forget about this, and we demand consequences.

Why is this important?
It's important for a multitude of reasons.
First and foremost, it's to help the surviving families of Grenfell. Hearing Rees-Mogg's words would have angered and upset many if not all of them, and we as the British people need to stand by and support them, to not let them or their loved be degraded by this patronising dinosaur of a man.
Secondly, it's important because we need to show Government and particular the Tory Party, that comments such as Rees-Mogg and their general attitude towards the people of Britain is unacceptable.
The Tories consistently claim to speak on behalf of the 'people', which implies they speak for every citizen in the UK. We know this is not true. We need to start showing them that it isn't true, and they can no longer get away with it.
