Change The Law: No More Naming of Revenge Porn Victims

We want the Government to close the legal loophole which means there are currently no laws to stop media outlets naming victims, including the coverage of court cases.
We believe that victims of revenge porn should have the same rights as victims of other types of sexual assault and have their identity protected by law.

Why is this important?

Being a victim of revenge porn is a devastating experience.
It is not fair that victims who take the brave step of pressing charges against their abuser currently risk being named in the media, particularly in coverage of the court case.
We want the Government to change the law to ensure victims get the protection they deserve.

How it will be delivered

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire, and revenge porn victim Keeley Richards-Shaw have jointly written to Rt Hon Michael Gove, MP, Secretary of State for Justice, to call for a change in law so that the anonymity of revenge porn victims is legally protected.
Signatures collected during this campaign will be added and presented to Rt Hon Michael Gove, MP, Secretary of State for Justice in due course.
