To: Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet who voted AGAINST extending free school meals to low income families over school holidays

Children before politics

As our MP, it is your duty to represent your constituents. As a collective of Chipping Barnet constituents, we stand against your vote to deny children from low income families free school meals over the holidays until April 2021. Families in your constituency are enduring unprecedented hardships during this pandemic and your vote today has demonstrated that you do not represent the interests of those in need. We are in an immediate crisis, the likes of which, we have never experienced in a generation. The Government has squandered £10bil on the failed test and trace system, yet can not fund free school meals until April 2021! It was therefore incumbent on you to do the right thing and your vote this evening is morally reprehensible.

Why is this important?

Families are facing unprecedented hardship. The Child Poverty Action group stated today that: “We've reached a low point if in the midst of a pandemic we can't make sure children in the lowest income families have a nutritious meal in the middle of the day."
