Children under 11 should be searched for within 3 hours of being reported missing
I would like the law to change in regards to missing children. In the UK an average of 112,853 children go missing per year and 47% are found within the first three hours. If action is not taken within that time frame the chances of finding your child drop dramatically. In the whole world the number of missing children per year is 800,000. In the year 2019, A majority of children who went missing last year (74%) were found within a week of being reported missing. 4.2% remain missing to this day. Studies show that the longer the child is missing, the less effective their survival techniques are. Hence the reason I believe action should be taken within three hours of being reported as missing.
Why is this important?
A young girl was missing for 18 years before she was found. She was held in a shed in the garden of her kidnappers home, raped and abused by himself and his wife resulting in two daughters. Eighteen years. Eighteen years of abuse. Eighteen years of rape. Eighteen years. This petition is important to me because children will forever be a part of this world and they should be protected because without them there is no future.
