CHIPPING NORTON BYPASS

CHIPPING NORTON BYPASS

Redirect the proposed link road currently heading south...to no where!!
To change the direction of the new road, to head north, so as to reduce the heavy goods traffic which is currently polluting the centre of our Cotswold town.

Why is this important?

For many years the air monitoring equipment in the centre of Chipping Norton has consistently been reading way above European health levels. It is suggested that the proposed new link road to the planned 1200 houses to the south will alleviate this problem. But the majority of vehicles head north through the centre of town.

Reasons for signing

  • At a time when traffic pollution has been proven to have a detrimental affect on health and heavy traffic makes negotiating roads in town dangerous; there have been too many deaths already! This bypass is long overdue.
  • Increased Radon (cancer causing) emissions - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9450591 Sulphur dioxide (diesel fuel) damage to Historical Buildings - http://www.qub.ac.uk/geomaterials/geomonumental/links/fieldtrip.html
  • Alleviate air pollution; force a logical choice of by-pass route
