A petition to allow our children to wear a colourful and more practical uniform
Allow the children of Avanti Frome to wear a colourful bright uniform that reflects the creative happy personalities of the whole community that surrounds Avanti Frome. Also a safe bright colour that will make children visible to motorists when walking to and from school.
Why is this important?
The parents of Avanti Park school understood that there would be a formal consultation on the possible introduction of a uniform from September 2021 as stated by the curriculum review. The early announcement of the introduction of a uniform without formal consultation came as quite a surprise to many of us. Little thought appears to have gone into the impact that this sudden decision has on both the parents and the children of Avanti Park school. The children of the former Steiner Academy Frome are used to wearing their own clothes and being able to express their own unique personalities and be treated as individuals in return. While we understand that you want to introduce a uniform, there are concerns over the choice of colour and we are asking if you could choose a colour that reflects the colourful personalities of the children who attend Avanti Park School. Please consider a brighter, happier, more visible colour for the school jumper. Purple or red has been a suggestion by many parents, purple seems to reflect the colours of Avanti School's trust whilst also potentially resolving the issue that is causing distress to children and parents. There has been so much change already that has been unsettling for the children so we appreciate you phasing the uniform in over the course of two terms. White is also a very hard colour to keep clean.
We are a colourful, creative and happy community. Please allow the children to wear colours that reflect their personalities and ones that allow them to be safe and visible on the grey winter school mornings and neighbouring roads and pavements.
