Conservation programs of Compensation & Grants for the Conservation Schemes Elephants

To influence Gabonese authorities and the state Organisations of Conservation in the République of Gabon to ensure that there is effective governance over the process used to distribute Compensation and Grant Support for people in rural areas impacted by elephant conservation policies (funds set aside for the successful resolution and mitigation of so called Human /Fauna Conflicts ).

There is collective recognition of the importance of conservation but for this to work people in rural areas need to be engaged and included, actively & compensated where there is disruption from conservation activity to their way of life and livelihood. The conservation programmes have set aside funding and planned to address this risk but their is poor performance in the authorities ( Gabonese) in terms of correctly distributing available funds to impacted families in rural areas

Why is this important?

Gabon is one of the remaining bastions of forest elephant with 85% of the forest elephant population .
Poor financial compensation and grants support are a significant cause of poverty and migration in cities from rural areas. In turn this leads to native people being unable to sustain their way of life and keep their families together Villagers are abandoning theirs traditions, their cultures and their way of life. This is a huge loss for native Gabonese.

Contributions allocated to Forest Elephants preservation Project must reach Natives people in rural areas who are paying a high prices with theirs lives and livelihoods
The mains issues here is that people sharing habitats with Forest elephants aren’t been financially supported! Natives people aren’t able to sustained theirs ways of life’s, therefore families are forced to move to big cities where life’s is even more complicated!
Let push hard to the Gabonese Authorities, Compensate accordingly to the rightful people
