|(COVID 19). National Heroes Day
Make the 26th of March a public holiday to celebrate and reflect on the heroic efforts millions have made to combat Covid19 and to remember all those whom have given their lives or then put their own health at risk to overcome the devastating effects of this disease.
But also reflect and give thanks to the millions who spend their lives every day supporting us all in the nations of the UK.
But also reflect and give thanks to the millions who spend their lives every day supporting us all in the nations of the UK.
Why is this important?
Many of us are heeding the governments advice, washing hands, social distancing and staying home. Many others have volunteered to support roles in our communities to help with essential services such as shopping for others, delivering medications and transporting people to and from medical appointments.
Our emergency services are out putting themselves on the front line in a historic effort to serve our communities and nations at this time. Those working under intense pressure in our NHS, police, fire services and military to fight this virus, many of whom have and will become ill themselves and sadly along with others, give their lives to this invisible enemy.
But there are many more people whom we should thank. Support staff in care homes and in the community who diligently support millions of people within our communities in their daily lives, many of whom are finding it challenging under our new social requirements.
It is important to remember though, that although we are focused now on the heroic efforts of these people combating this virus, these people make a heroic effort everyday to serve us all and have done so for many years.
Last evening (26/03/20) millions all over the UK joined in clapping and making noise in appreciation of these brave people and their historic effort to serve the peoples of our nations. (I’m sure we would all like to thank Annemarie for sparking us into action).
However now I am asking us to take one day a year to remember those who dedicate their lives to saving ours. Not only in times of national crisis, but every single day of every single year and in our time of need are our national heroes.
