To: The future Prime Minister

It's time to tax the super-rich

Dear future Prime Minister: It's time to tax the super-rich,

Britain needs change and we need you to make politics work for ordinary people again. Politics that improves lives, built on hope and unity, not hostility and division.

So we can have affordable housing and bills. And food shops that don’t leave us short every month. We need well-funded childcare, health and social care to look after our loved ones. We need to protect the places we love, nature and the environment, and unlock cash for our communities to build a future we can look towards with hope.

Normally, we'd expect the public to have a say in who becomes Prime Minister, but most of us haven’t cast a vote in an election that will decide who will lead the country for the next few years. So, this is an important message from us, outlining the change we need to see.

We need a wealth tax on the ultra-rich so that the UK can work for everyone. There’s unimaginable wealth in this country, and if we taxed those holding the vast majority of it fairly we could turn things around.

You can rewrite the rules to tackle damaging inequality and end the super-rich and powerful’s stranglehold on our politics. You’re going to be our Prime Minister, so we need you to work for us.

Yours sincerely,
Tax Justice UK, Patriotic Millionaires UK & all the undersigned

Why is this important?

Keir Starmer has just resigned. This means a Labour Party leadership election will begin on 9 July, and by September the UK will have a new Prime Minister. That’s if anyone stands against Andy Burnham. When they walk into No.10 on day one, we want a message from our movement waiting on their desk— signed by as many of us as possible— making it impossible to ignore the change this country needs. Will you add your name?
