I want the above named to formally action that public opinion be canvased on the situation unfolding in Palestine, Gaza and the West Bank and the policy options that the UK should consider to address this. This could be by digital poll or referendum.

Why is this important?
For the best part of two years Palestinian lives from the tiniest infants to the most infirm aged are being shredded on a daily basis.
Any moral and ethical person finds this viscerally repulsive and yet our government continues to close the avenues by which our voices can be heard. As such I am demanding that public opinion is formally canvased so that government policy is dictated by the will of the people.
With the government’s increasingly draconian attitude to protest it would seem to many, if not most, that their views are being completely disregarded and overridden when deciding policy on the Palestine, Gaza and West Bank situation. It is the many/most issue that needs to be resolved.
If most believe that the UK government’s current approach to Palestine is unacceptable then, if not adhered to, it will be a dereliction of democracy and the government will, in short, no longer be legitimate.
Few could argue that it is not an absolute imperative for humans as a species and civilisation as an organisation to continually progress towards resolving differences by means other than armed conflict with all the disaster, destruction and enormous human cost that it brings. It is therefore incumbent on governments around the planet to be, and to be seen to be, constantly advancing, re-affirming and upholding International Law and, as importantly, adhering to the majority wishes of their citizens.
This is arguably the most profoundly moral challenge of our generation and history cannot find us wanting.
