DON'T LET THE GAMBLING SHOP OPEN IN BROADMEAD

We are calling on Bristol City Council, the Planning Committee, and the Gambling Commission to:
1. Reject any planning applications for a gambling venue at 75 Broadmead, Bristol, BS1 1DX, which is located on our high street and will negitavly impact the safety and wellbeing of our community
2. Deny the gambling license for this location, in line with the Gamling Commission's commitment to protecting vulerable people and preventing harm
3. Protect our high street by keeping it safe for families and young people.
Our high street should be a place that uplifts and supports the community, not one that exploits vulnerable people and profit from their struggles.

Why is this important?
This isn't just about one gambling shop, it's about protecting our community.
Gambling shops may seem harmless, but they often lead to real harm and put people are risk every single day. The shop is located where children walk to school, where families shop and where people trying to recover from addition are just trying to live their lives.
Within just a one-mile radius, we already have four bookmakers (two Betfred branches, a William Hill, and a Ladbrokes) as well as a gambling arcade (Be Lucky). This is already a lot more than what is healthy or necessary for a local area.
We all know someone who has struggled with money, addiction or mental health.
Opening a gambling venue right in the centre of our community will only make that worse. Once it's there, it's hard to undo the damage.
By signing this petition, you are saying:
- We care about each other
- We don't want to see our neighbours fall into harm
- We want to keep our high street safe
You are standing up for:
- The mental and financial wellbeing of your neighbours
- The safety and character of your local high street
- A community that values support, opportunity and care over exploiting vulnerable people
You have the voice to stop this, please don't wait until it's too late
