Ealing Council - Please Cut The Dangerous Barley Grass Seeds

Ealing Council, it’s great leaving wild flowers and harmless weeds and grasses in our parks to support the local wildlife. However there are many areas of dense barley grass seeds that are dangerous to dogs that result in great pain when the sharp seeds are lodged in ear canals or in paws. The seeds can even work themselves internally and move to the lungs and cause death. Vets in Ealing have reported that the number of barley grass seeds having to be removed from dog’s ears, eyes, paws and other places has sky rocketed this month and will only get worse over the summer. Ealing Council please cut the areas where there are dense barley grass seeds in Walpole, Lammas & Blondin park and continue to leave the areas where there are harmless plants and flowers. Please also clear away the dangerous grass seeds after cutting them too. Otherwise they will still cause harm to dogs.

Why is this important?

If you have a dog and enjoy walking them in our beautiful parks in Ealing, please sign this petition to avoid unnecessary pain for them and the cost to you for vets bills.

Hello, thanks to everyone who has signed the petition. I'm meeting our local MP Rupa Huq on Friday 28th to hopefully gain her support
for the barley grass to be cut. There has been a news report on this too subject https://youtube.com/shorts/f82nqwvbroY Please can you help by emailing some local Councillors and perhaps share your thoughts and this petition and link to the news report? The more we draw their attention to this matter the better. The Walpole councillors are Cllr Grace Quansah [email protected]
Cllr Binda Rai [email protected] Cllr Gareth Shaw [email protected]
Thank you Toby and Freida (my dog)
