Education is more valuable than holidays
Offer parents who take their children out of school during term time an alternative to fines. If they insist on interrupting their childrens' education in order to take them on holiday and do not want to pay the fine, they must attend school with their child for a period of one week following the absence in order to help them catch up with their studies. This will also avoid disruption to other pupils' education and help to demonstrate the value of their child's education and the impact excluding their child from school has on teachers and their child's classmates.
We also urge the Welsh and Westminster governments to legislate to prevent holiday companies from charging higher rates during school holidays.

Why is this important?
Everyone needs to understand the value of education, whether they are pupils, parents, politicians or holiday companies. Holiday companies are exploiting parents in the most cynical way, and this needs to stop.
