End right to buy - we need homes..

End right to buy.

Why is this important?

In 1979 Mr Thatcher allowed families to buy their council houses undoubtedly at the time it was a popular policy and seemed the solution to the constant fear over generations of families knowing they are at the mercy of the state and instead will have something they feel secure in 'their own home'. Unfortunately since 1980 housing has become far precarious the council houses built for family homes are more likely in private rented landlords' portfolios and are used as a business to make profit from a broken housing system. At the same time, councils have not been building council housing to replace our stock. The consequences are soaring rents, housing instability and poverty for millions of people who don't have parents to help them get on the housing ladder. A first step in a new housing for ordinary working class people is to stop right to buy immediately. Housing is a human right and ending it starts with ending the wild west that is negotiating your way to find a home.
