End violence against the Druze people in Syria

We, the undersigned, call on the international community to urgently recognise and respond to the severe repression and injustice faced by the Druze people in the Sweida (As-Suwayda) region in Syria. The current attacks on the civilian population continues unabated, with hundreds of Druze people (as well as other minorities) being killed, injured, kidnapped, forcibly displaced and humiliated over the recent days and earlier during the recent months in provinces near the capital.
For years, the Druze community in southern Syria has endured systematic marginalisation, economic strangulation, and state neglect. As of writing, the safety of this peace loving minority is being compromised using the most reprehensible forms of sectarian extremism being directed at innocent civilians.
The Druze community stands for dignity, secularism, democratic values and the rule of law in one of the world’s most volatile regions — and now they need our solidarity.
We urge:
- The United Nations and international human rights bodies to investigate continuing abuses and monitor the situation in Sweida.
- Governments, including the UK to condemn repression against the Druze people.
- Media outlets to cover the struggle of the Druze population (as well as other minorities) in Syria and ensure their voices are heard.
- Humanitarian agencies to provide targeted relief and support to affected communities in Sweida.
The silence must end. The world must stand with the Druze in their fight for basic freedoms, dignity, and survival.
Please sign this petition to demand awareness, action, and justice.
Why is this important?
It is a human rights cause. Increasing awareness about violence inflicted against minorities is the right thing to do.
