Failing BBC Panorama
Dear BBC,
Please return Panorama to the powerful investigative program it used to be. The original one hour was only just enough to tackle important issues. This evening's half hour about child sexual exploitation in Rochdale was completely ineffectual. We all now know the destructive details of what happened, but the the program completely failed to confront those directly responsible, even though one was named, and those who covered it up, intimidated professionals directly reporting, or refused to act to avoid the accusation of racial prejudice. The program is just as culpable as them, for it's omissions and vain pretension to investigative journalism for this shocking scandal.

Why is this important?
The BBC, apart from Chanel 4, is a Public Services Broadcasting Company, widely regarded as independent and trustworthy across the world. Unless it is prepared to use that trust, and the expectation of the license payer to examine seriously important issues like this, it will have betrayed it's Charter.
