Feed the Kent Lorry Drivers Now!
This morning, after 2 nights of lorry drivers being stuck on the M20, the Road Haulage Association advises the lorry drivers have only been offered a cereal bar to eat. Home Secretary Priti Patel states that of the 1500 lorry drivers, 873 are at Manston airfield where there are ‘welfare facilities’ ~ leaving those on the M20 with no provision. For a government whose Prime Minister and Transport Secretary announced less than 16 hours ago that the number was 170 not 1500 lorries, we have serious concern that not only are they failing to provide the public with the true facts, more importantly, there is an urgent welfare need for lorry drivers which needs action now.
Why is this important?
Don’t leave this to the goodwill of Priti Patel. Offering a cereal bar to a lorry driver that has been stuck on the M20 for 2 nights is an embarrassment and an outrage. Basic welfare provision should be provided for any worker irrespective of the job you do.
