Dear [MP name],

I have grave concerns about the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, which is returning to Parliament next week. As my MP, please will you support the following amendments to remove the worst aspects of the bill.

1. Claudia Webbe MP's New Clause 54, which requires that the Government publishes an equality impact assessment of the Bill
2. Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP's New Clause 56, which requires a review of stop and search orders
3. Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP's New Clause 57, which calls for a public Inquiry into the criminal justice system and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people
4. Alistair Carmichael MP's Amendments 1 to 7, which seek to remove Part 3 (public order) from the Bill
5. Zarah Sultana MP’s New Clause65, which requires an inquiry into the policing of protests (including the use of force, kettling, and use of horses).
6. Ian Byrne MP's Amendments 8, 9 & 10, which seek to remove Part 4 (unauthorised encampments measures) from the Bill.
7. Mary Foy MP's New Clause 51, which requires a review of the prevention, investigation and prosecution of crime against Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
8. Mary Foy MP's New Clause 52, which requires training for relevant public officials in relation to Gypsy Roma and Traveller communities.
9. Apsana Begum MP's Amendment 63, which seeks to remove Clause 139 (Secure 16 to 19 Academies) from the Bill

I look forward to hearing your response.

Kind regards,

Why is this important?

The Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill gives police and the justice system extensive new powers - including laws to crack down on protest, extend stop and search powers, and criminalise the lifestyle of Roma, and Traveller communities.

And this from a system that already attempts to suppress peaceful protest, opposes progressive change and disproportionately targets black people and other ethnic minorities.

The above amendments remove the worst aspects of the Policing Bill. It is vital that MPs support them by 3pm Friday 2nd July - this is our best chance to fight this draconian bill in Parliament!
