FLOODING SHOWS THAT FIRE SERVICE CUTS ARE A MISTAKE

FLOODING SHOWS THAT FIRE SERVICE CUTS ARE A MISTAKE

We call upon Surrey County Council to halt the plans made earlier this month to cut our fire and rescue services in Spelthorne by half, and instead to invest in our safety by keeping the two fire stations, appliances, crews and staffing levels that we already have.

Why is this important?

The effect of the floods and storms of recent days on Spelthorne have proven to those who live and work here the very real need for our existing fire and rescue services to be maintained. The firefighters in both Staines and Sunbury have been working flat out to provide essential rescue services, as have those from the surrounding boroughs.

Reasons for signing

  • common sense !
  • Surrey County Council have no concern whatsoever about the health, safety and lives of the people they are called to serve - It's all about money for them!
  • I signed because l know the misinformation that is being spoken . Money is being wasted on a private company that are strike breakers and not of the standard of the real firefighters of surrey. Council tax should be spent on the surrey fire and rescue service, but what can you expect of a chief officer whom in his first year in the fire service stated he had not joined the fire service to ride fire engine, so why did he join?
