Why is this important?

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, URGE: KEEP FOOD FACTS FRIENDS WELLBEING HUB OPEN AND AFFORDABLE

Food Facts Friends Wellbeing Hub at 42 John Street, Penicuik, is not just a building — it is the heart of our community. It is where people come when they have nowhere else to turn. It is where families find affordable food, where the lonely find company, and where everyone finds a warm welcome.

If we lose this hub, our community loses:

  •  Our Community Diner — hot, affordable meals for families and individuals who cannot make ends meet
  •  Our Affordable Shop & Community Fridge — good food at prices people can actually afford
  •  Our Warm Space — somewhere safe and cosy to sit, especially for those struggling with heating bills or loneliness
  •  A place of connection — where neighbours meet, friendships grow, and no one feels alone= Paws Pantry — free pet food so people don't have to give up their beloved pets when money is tight
  •  Events, support, and hope — Citizens Advice sessions, community meals, Christmas for families in need, and so much more

We are not a business. We are a small local charity run by people who live right here in our community. We have invested our own time and limited funds to improve and care for this building.
