Funding for essential hospice care
Ensure a fair amount of support to help fund vital hospice care.
Why is this important?
Over the past year I have witnessed first hand the devastating effect that cancer has on anybody affected, not only on the patient but also on family and friends.
In the last few days of my dad's precious life, the care he received from the angels at Manorlands Hospice was second to none. This care also extends to family and friends who are affected, and is proving to a necessity as the numbers of people affected by this cruel disease continues to rise.
I find it appauling that these vital services are relying heavily on fund raising events in order to keep going. When so much money is being wasted in other areas, or worse still not collected in tax, the people who suffer most are those who are already in an intolerable amount of pain.
For this reason, I believe that more should be done to fund the vital services provided by hospices, both in care and in cancer research.
