Halt building works on Dunmore Road and Twelve Acre Drive to reassess flood risk

In the light of recent flooding of the site and widespread public concern for many reasons, we ask that Vale of White Horse DC Planning Dept halt construction of new housing off Dunmore Road and Twelve Acre Drive in Abingdon until further investigation into flood risk and social needs of the residents have been undertaken.

Why is this important?

There is widespread public anxiety among the local people about the effect of the new house building on flood risk and lack of amenities to be provided on the new estates.

A full investigation into flood risk, taking into account the effects of climate change, needs to be done and also a reassessment of the need for provision of services such as schools, surgeries and community centres, before building work is resumed.

Also, most of the houses are not being built to a sufficiently high standard of insulation for the future and are still being fitted with gas boilers! Delaying construction would allow the new building regulations to come into effect to force an improvement in standards.
