Immediately Pause Gravel Extraction at Watersplash Farm, Shepperton

To pause with immediate effect the gravel extraction project at Watersplash Farm.

Why is this important?

The Watersplash Farm area is at high risk of flooding due to climate change and no 3-D modelling of fluid flow in the subsurface. The Farm is adjacent to vulnerable areas such as Fordbridge Park mobile home park.
The effects of Climate Change have not been fully disclosed by SCC or CEMEX who are extracting the gravel, a vital flood defence, and replacing it with impermeable clay brick.
This is a risky venture with potentially devastating effects on the community. A flooding disaster is just around the corner if we do not pause this anti-scientic project. Who will pick up the bill? The community, of course.

SCC do not have a capacity to assess hydrodynamics. So they contracted an entity to take a look at groundwater flooding potential on the farm. However, no 3D modelling of fluid flow in the subsurface was carried out. We have thus been left in the dark about how the impermeable waste will affect groundwater levels. Our educated guess, based on simple Science, is that water flow, normally absorbed on the farm, will run down onto the main road and into properties. An added risk is that sea levels are rising and we are experiencing dramatically wetter weather. Hydrodynamics and Climate Science have thus been sacrificed to a Mexican "smash and grab" job. CEMEX will not hang around when and if the perceived risk turns out to be founded on solid Scientific grounds. The real liability will lie with SCC for not listening to our scientists and sadly with our community in the event of continuing wet weather.
