Kevin Keegan to receive an honorary knighthood for services to football

Kevin Keegan Playing for England
Kevin Keegan tragically passed away from stomach cancer without ever being recognised for his services to football. If ever a man in his passing should be honoured for his contribution to his profession it’s Kevin Keegan. Arise Sir Kevin. Please sign this petition and forward it on to as many Englishmen as possible

Why is this important?

Kevin won the English first division, FA Cup, and the European Cup with Liverpool.FC. At one point he became the worlds most expensive player when he was transferred from Liverpool to Hamburg, and he holds a very, very special record as an Englishmen to have won the Balon D’or - the worlds best footballer award, twice, and collate under 50 players in the entire history of football have won, and he’s 1 of only 3 Englishmen to have ever won it.

Not only was he a great player playing for Scunthorpe, Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton, and Newcastle, and of course England but he was an amazing manager too. His turnaround of Fulham, Man City and of course Newcastle, where he nearly won the premiere League, confirmed his status as one of Englands most loved football professional. He also had the top job for a while, England Football Manager.

Kevin Keegan was my first hero. He was up there at the time with Sir Ian Botham and Daley Thompson. They were our sporting heroes and Kevin was at the very top. Not only that but he was a lovely man. I met him very very briefly when I was in Southampton 80’s as a young boy and it stayed with me forever. Just a quick hello and he ruffled my hair as he walked past. Their are thousands of stories about his generosity, kindness, and acts of selflessness that you don’t hear often enough about superstars.
