Legacy Benefits

Throughout the pandemic Universal Credit claimants have received an extra £20.00 a week to help them with the extra costs, there are now calls for this to be extended quite rightly. However those who are on so-called legacy benefits, for example E.S.A which includes thousands of disabled people like myself, have not seen a penny extra/ The excuse has been the older benefits are on too unwieldly a system, however this shouldn't stop the government paying it in lump sum instalments. For many of us who have had to shield my electricity bill has doubled and my food bill gone up by a third.

Why is this important?

There are over a million people this affects.
