Let Children in Wales have a Family Holiday During Term Time

Reverse the Education Authorities rule that Head teachers are no longer able to authorise absence for family holidays during term time.

Why is this important?

Many families from poor backgrounds, can only afford to go on holiday during term time, as holidays are about 60% more expensive during the holiday period. Many families where parents work are unable to take time off during the five full weeks of the summer holidays. Children have the right to a holiday as much as anyone, and often learn plenty, ie visits to places of interest or learning to swim, or other skills.

this petition is being presented to the Welsh Assembly next Monday hopefully to be discussed by the petitions committee on Tuesday, there is a sister petition on the Welsh Assembly website until 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday 9th of July) it would be really appreciated if people could sign that one and share it as well.
