Make it illegal to cycle on roads without a helmet

To make it a legal requirement for cyclists to wear helmets while cycling on the roads.

This simple measure could save lives and prevent injuries, while building public trust in cycling. Seatbelt legislation for drivers has been enormously successful; this is the same for cycling.

Why is this important?

This is an important but simple change that would make cyclists safer and provide reassurance to drivers too. We should also ensure that cycle schemes such as London's Santander Cycles provide helmets for cyclists; it is their public duty.
