Make It Simpler to Research New Health Supplements

The Job: To petition Congress to make it cheaper and more attainable for health and dietary nutritional supplement businesses to research any potential medicinal properties commonly found in some foods and natural supplements.

The Issue: The authorities released a guidance document in response to concerns that little research exists to support the effectiveness of health supplements to be used as a means to treat health conditions. One of the main issues is that any person or organization that wants to analyze the effectiveness of nutritional supplements is now expected to pay $2.3 million dollars just to begin the research process.

Why is this important?

In addition, if the research proves successful, the supplement could be selected via the FDA’S official approval procedure and could subsequently be turned into a drug. The challenge in here is, this process costs billions of dollars, which makes it almost impossible to patent nutritional supplements for consumer use because no one can afford to get the process even started.

If it this continues to stay in place, many consumers are concerned health supplements may not be accessible to either doctors or consumers one day.

The Answer:If we come together and put intense pressure on Congress to help them see how important this research is to some consumers, we can hopefully have these regulations changed or reversed.

Let’s get together and fight to help keep the research procedure for health nutritional supplements accessible and affordable.

VitaMonk believes that it should be more affordable and easier for companies to research potential medicinal properties found in nature.
