Means test winter fuel payments
Please listen to the many well off pensioners who want to stop receiving winter fuel payments and would rather the money was used for a more worthwhile cause
Why is this important?
It is important to start redressing the balance between the benefits enjoyed by older people and those enjoyed by the young, who have suffered many cuts recently.
It is also important for winter fuel to be enjoyed by those who need it t heat their homes, and not those who have no difficulty doing so.
Winter fuel payment is actually an embarrassment to a lot of wealthy pensioners, many of whom try to return it! Much better that it is claimed by those who need it, not given as a right
