It should go without saying that the order of duty of ALL MPs is:
1. Firstly to be answerable to the country.
2. Secondly be answerable to their constituents.
3. Thirdly to be answerable to their party members (as opposed to fellow MPs).
4. Fourthly to be answerable to their parliamentary political party (fellow MPs).
5. And only when there is no higher body conflicting on this list, to their own opinion.
That is the clear order of ‘command’ that any democratically elected MP MUST be answerable to – above all they must NEVER put their political party or their personal opinion before the will of the country!
Polls have shown that the people of our country, the British people, whether wanting to remain in the EU or to Brexit, overwhelmingly agree that the one thing we do NOT want above all else is a no-deal Brexit!
A no deal Brexit would cause a catastrophe in our country, such as:
1. Food: Somewhere between 40% and 70% of our food comes from EU trade deals, and a no deal Brexit could leave our supermarkets shelves empty with food shortages!
2. Medicine: Over 37 million packets of medicines every month are imported through the EU trade deal (worth £18.3 billion); with this line of guaranteed trade closed (and a crashed £ value) we would have massive shortages of vital medical supplies!
3. £ value & importing costs: The threat of a no-deal Brexit is causing the value of our £ to crash (but the rumour that Jeremy Corbyn could block it has actually caused a rise of confidence and value), and outside the EU after a no deal Brexit, having lost our main trader, we would have zero leverage to get a good trade deal with other countries and a nearly worthless (for exchange rate) currency to buy anything with, sending the price of everything through the roof for every British citizen!
4. Worker & human rights protections: one of the main reasons the extreme right wing want us to crash out of the EU is that they would then be free to strip the worker rights, and even human rights, which membership of the EU / leaving the EU with a deal would protect us from! We will not tolerate any situation which could bring back sweatshops (allowing rich company owners to have workplaces that have very poor, socially unacceptable working conditions - overly difficult, dangerous, climatically challenged or underpaid, with no laws enforcing allowance for sick pay, paid holidays, paid maternity leave, 5 day working week, no minimum wage, etc).
And the list goes on. All these can be stopped, either by remaining in the EU OR by Brexiting with a deal that the EU accepts, allowing trading, etc.. to continue.
Without emergency measures, it is clear that PM Boris Johnson, with his extreme right wing views and very rich backers, will crash us out of the EU without a deal. The EU have already said that they WILL NOT renegotiate a Brexit with the conditions that the extreme right wing previous or current PM would insists on, and even in his own words, the PM has said that no matter what, we are leaving the EU on Halloween, which by definition means crashing out with a disastrous (for anyone who is not rich enough not to care) no deal Brexit!
Jeremy Corbyn has now presented the ONLY way to block a no deal Brexit – a vote of no-confidence, followed by a very temporary emergency government (only a couple of weeks) before calling a general election. Jeremy Corbyn is the DEMOCRATICALLY elected OFFICIAL leader of the opposition; it would ipso facto, by definition, for the leader of the opposition to carry out this opposition act to stop a no-deal Brexit!
This temporary government would only be for a few weeks, before a general election would be called anyway, and it gives the country what it overwhelming is calling for: block no-deal Brexit!
Jeremy Corbyn’s plan is to then 2 stages:
1. Go to the EU and present a much more central (not extreme right wing) possible deal to the EU, which protects all the deals we currently enjoy (food, medicine, etc).
2. Call a referendum offering us, the British people, the final say – WE get to democratically chose whether we changed our minds and remain in the EU, or we go ahead with a Brexit that takes us out, without all the damage that leaving without a deal would inflict on us!
Hence, we are calling on any MPs who “say” they want to “block a no-deal Brexit” to give the British people, represented by those people whom have signed this petition, what they democratically demand and get behind Jeremy Corbyn to go ahead with this one and only chance to block a no deal Brexit!
Any MP attempting any political manoeuvrings (such as “I would, but not under Jeremy Corbyn”, or “he is too divisive” which is clearly a lie when his own party members overwhelming democratically elected him as their leader) will be called out as either self-serving or putting their parliamentary party before the country to which they serve! MPs are to serve democracy, not each other, or they should step down and called bi-elections in their own constituencies!
IN SUMMARY:
ALL MPs who want any credence for claiming to be “against a no-deal Brexit”, regardless of party (Lib Dem, SNP, Labour, Conservative, etc), are hereby called upon by the British people to put the will of the country before their party's and vote with the official democratically elected leader of the opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, in a vote of no confidence and back him as temporary leader (only lasts a few weeks) until a general election can be called for a permanent, democratically elected, government to be elected, whether that be Labour or any other party, so that this otherwise imminent and definite no-deal Brexit can be blocked before it is forever too late!
