NO 10pm PARKING CHARGES IN Glasgow

Thanks to people power we have won, parking hours in city centre won't be extended to 22.00

I CALL ON GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL TO SCRAP THE UP COMING 10pm PARKING CHARGES IN THE CITY.

Why is this important?

THIS WILL HAVE A DISASTROUS EFFECT ON THOUSANDS OF LOW PAID WORKERS WORKING IN THE NIGHT TIME ECONOMY,CLUBS,PUBS,RESTAURANTS,THEATER, ETC, MOST NEED A CAR DUE TO LATE HOURS AND NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT AT 3am, THIS IS A Tax ON PEOPLE GOING TO WORK, THIS WILL ADD £11.40 PER HOUR TO A WORKERS OUTGOINGS MOST ON MINIMUM WAGE, THIS MEANS THAT A WORKER ON MINIMUM WAGE WOULD BE WORKING THE FIRST 4hrs FIR £0.30p, THIS IS AN UNJUST, UN CALLED FOR STEALTH TAX AND SHOULD BE SCRAPPED KEEP PARKING FAIR AND FREE AFTER 6PM, THIS BRINGS MORE PEOPLE IN TO THE CITY, THIS IS A STEP TO FAR, THE COUNCIL IS OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE PEOPLE OF GLASGOW

PEOPLE SHOULD NOT have to pay stealth taxes to go to work, the night time hospitality sector is still recovering for lock down, this will add more burden to staff working in the night time economy

How it will be delivered

Today I have handed in my petition directly to the chief executive and the leader of the council I await any reply

congratulations to all who took the time the snp have been caught out with more lies, they're now admitting it has to have a lawfull consultation period ( they didnt) and now saying it was for 2026 not this april, remember this when you vote this year thanks to all who took part its a sweet victory that i never imagined we could force them to change
The proposals to charge for on-street parking after 6pm were included in the council’s three-year budget last month.

However, it sparked anger among motorists and business groups who said it would deter customers from coming into the city centre in the evening.

The changes, however, were not going to happen this year as they requires a Traffic Regulation Order and a consultation period - and were likely to be introduced in 2026.

just discovered that it's now only 2hrs parking in city centre, this is even worse, going by todays prices before the April rise

2hrs parking = £11.40
if a late worker did 5 nights a week over the month this equates to £456 a month, how can anyone on minimum wage afford this
