In England, 15% of children aged 2yrs - 15yrs are classified as obese. This is an outrage!
The 'children's cereals' sections in supermarkets should be banned, because they encourage children to eat more sugar, with obvious consequences like obesity, diabetes, tooth decay and more.
Manufacturers make sugary cereals because they know sugar is addictive, but I think they should prioritise healthy options, ie high fibre, low sugar and low fat and make them attractive to children and stop making the sugary cereals. Supermarkets stock items they know they can sell and parents buy food they know their children will eat. However, if there were no special 'children's cereals' section in supermarkets, the temptation to buy sugary cereals would be greatly reduced.
