No Housing Development of Widnes Golf Club
To stop the building of any housing development on the designated Green Space land known as Widnes Golf Club.
Why is this important?
We believe that the Green Space of Widnes Golf Club is extremely important in terms of making up part of the 'green lung' of Widnes. It has for many decades been a central green space in the heart of Widnes and we believe that it must remain as green space.
This land is designated as Green Space in Halton Borough Council's Unitary Development Plan and in its Local Plan, as such permission should be refused.
We have lost many of our green areas to housing development due to government planning laws. Housing development of this nature spot would have a hugely detrimental impact on the people of Kingsway & Broadheath Ward living nearby and also on people living across the whole of Widnes.
The loss of trees, hedgerow and wildlife habitat is unacceptable.
The traffic on Leigh Avenue, Liverpool Road, Lower House Lane and Highfield Road is we feel already at capacity, to add more houses with the numbers of cars and journeys that come with those houses would increase people's travelling times, increase pollution and hugely increase the number of vehicles travelling near our local schools.
We are deeply concerned that building houses on this important designated Green Space would heavily impact on the pupil places available at our local schools, many of which in the nearby vicinity are already hugely over subscribed. This would then have a wider impact on families living across Widnes when seeking school places. The proposed development would also impact on other services such as GPs.
We urge Halton Borough Council to do everything in their power to stop any part of this designated Green Space land being turned into a housing development.
