NO to a smaller hospital, NO to cuts of £116 million

NO to a smaller hospital, NO to cuts of £116 million

REVIEW the decision to cut the size of the Royal Bolton Hospital and make cuts of £116 million to NHS services

Why is this important?

THE HOSPITAL IS NOW REGULARLY ON `BLACK ALERT` WHICH MEANS IT CANNOT ACCEPT ANY ADMISSIONS DUE TO LACK OF AVAILABLE BEDS AND BOLTON PATIENTS FALLING ILL/BEING INJURED HAVE TO BE FERRIED TO SALFORD OR WIGAN.
MEETING AT `FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE` SILVERWELL STREET BOLTON ON THURSDAY 23RD MARCH AT 7.30 : SPEAKER DR JACKIE GRUNSELL GP.

Reasons for signing

  • Bolton is a big hospital serving a big population. It is appalling to think that there are £116 million in cuts being planned to our local NHS.
  • Bolton, as one of the most deprived local authorities in England, needs and deserves more investment in its' hospital and local services. News that they are planning on cutting services further is shocking.
  • Eight years ago I was diagnosed with cancer by the Breast Cancer Unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital where I received very rapid treatment and excellent aftercare for the following five years. I had an operation within 8 weeks of receiving a letter saying that a mammogram needed to be repeated. This was a very stressful time and it is unthinkable that patients today cannot receive such speedy attention or the continuous care of highly trained specialists at the same hospital.
