Object to plans to remove two mature trees and a bench from Market Street Hoylake

Dear friends,

Thank you for signing "Object to plans to remove two mature trees and a bench from Market Street Hoylake".

I am pleased to say that the plans have now been changed and there is no mention of removing the bench or trees now. Thank you to everyone who raised this and everyone who has signed it.

Thanks also to Nomad who have made the changes to their application.

Planning permission is being applied for to convert the former Hoylake Library into a Gym.  As part of the planning permission, there is an intention to remove two mature and much-loved trees from the pavement outside the building as well as a public bench.  There is a shortage of both trees and places to sit already in Hoylake.  The distance to the next street tree in a SW direction is about 350m.  The removal is totally at odds with the principles of Healthy Streets, which Liverpool City Region is signed up to.

Furthermore, the trees are used to display remembrance snowflakes around Christmas.

We object to the plans to remove the bench and the trees and request that the planning application is brought to the planning committee.

Why is this important?

We object to the plans to remove the bench and the trees and request that the planning application is brought to the planning committee.

UPDATE: Please note that the applicant has updated their planning application to remove the section about removing the two trees and the bench. Consequently, this petition has served its purpose and will be closed. It is brilliant that Nomad have made this change and on behalf of the people who asked for this petition to be started, I wish them success in their venture. It will be great to see the building being used again.
