Oppose Veolia Waste Processing Factory

We call on Lincolnshire County Council to refuse planning permission to Veolia ES (UK) Ltd to open a Waste Transfer & Waste Refuse Derived Fuel Factory at Long Leys Road, Lincoln.

Why is this important?

The transfer and processing of waste in an urban area with ecological sites nearby is unacceptable.

Increased noise,
stench,
dust
and vermin on the site,
increased HGV traffic, and an
increased fire risk would affect:

- residents' health, quality of life, and safety
- local wildlife including protected and at risk species
- air, water and soil quality
- local businesses, private properties, a playground, schools and roads

A factory that can process waste 24 hours per day, with HGV’s traveling through an urban area night and day is unacceptable. We call on Lincolnshire County Council to reject the application.

Dear Oppose Veolia Supporter,
Some time has passed since you signed our petition to oppose waste processing giant Veolia's plans to build a waste transfer site off Long Leys Road in Lincoln.
You may be aware that the County Council refused the application, that Veolia has appealed, and that there will now be a Public Inquiry early next year.
We need your help if we are to win this. Local residents so far given over £10,000, which secures us a voice at the Inquiry, and the services of a barrister.
But we need to fund additional costs: expert reports to counter Veolia's claims.
If you have already donated, then you have our grateful thanks. But if you are able to help now, please follow this link for a donation: justgiving.com/crowdfunding/stopveoliainlincoln You can choose to donate anonymously if you prefer.
If you want to read more of what we're doing to fight Veolia, please see StopVeoliaInLincoln.com
Many thanks for your attention, and best wishes, Emile

Update: incredibly, for what seemed to be a very local campaign we have managed to collect 500 signatures. This is unexpected and amazing, and shows commitment, dedication and perseverance. There are many more avenues for our campaign to follow, some of which will be discussed at the next community meeting (https://www.facebook.com/events/220789628356209/?ti=icl). We will keep you posted from this site about new initiatives. Thanks a lot for your engagement!
