Parking Meters Must Continue To Accept Cash
Many cash parking meters are being removed from circulation but all parking meters should be legally obliged to accept cash as legal tender or penalty tickets should be unenforceable.
Why is this important?
To have to pay by phone only is discriminatory to anyone who
a. Does not own a smartphone
b. Does not do transactions through their smartphone for security reasons
c: Does not want to be forced to pay a 'booking fee' for technology to buy a ticket which they didn't want in the first place!
d. Is not a criminal and has no reason to have their parking actions tracked.
These meters are also a disaster for our struggling town and city centres if they prevent customers' parking or impede parking for personal caring duties.
