Pay Rise and better conditions for Group Exercise Teachers
Teaching Fitness, Dance, Yoga and other exercise classes is physically demanding job however the pay rates are very low in UK
( some Fitness companies pay just around 20 GBP per class). Also Fitness class teachers should get at least 2 -3 classes to teach on the day. Traveling in London to teach 1 class only covers tube/train/buses and some snacks or 1 meal after work. Most of us work on 0 hour contracts or Freelance contracts so the regular hours are never guaranteed.
Pay rates should be increased to minimum of 40 GBP per hour /class (reflecting the cost of living) and each teacher should be given at least 2 -3 hours of work on the day.
Why is this important?
It's important to keep the Fitness Industry alive with high quality classes and Qualified and insured professionals who work with passion and enthusiasm. But without decent pay and better working conditions and guaranteed hours many are leaving this Industry because honestly they can't make the ends meet.
