PETITION AGAINST CELKOM TRANSPORT'S EXPANSION THROUGH BISHOPTHORPE
Stop the expansion of Celkom Transport's operations that will result in a significant increase in the number of goods vehicles traveling through our village.
Why is this important?
Bishopthorpe is a quiet, residential community with narrow streets, a primary school, and a high volume of pedestrian and cyclist activity. The increased HGV traffic will bring:
Greater risk to pedestrian and child safety
Increased noise and air pollution
Damage to road surfaces not designed for industrial traffic
Disruption to the peaceful character of the village
We believe this expansion will negatively impact our health, wellbeing, and quality of life. We urge the council and planning authorities to reconsider or impose strict limitations on Celkom Transport’s proposed traffic routes and volume through Bishopthorpe.
We respectfully request that this petition be considered as part of any upcoming planning review or transport assessment.
