Petition to Ban the Manufacture, Sale, and Distribution of Xarelto

The Goal. To lessen the number of cases involving harm to health and life because of Xarelto.

The Problem. Xarelto is an anticoagulant known to a lot of people because of its composition and property that makes if an effective blood thinner. Patients who suffer from atrial fibrillation and stokes, or those who have had hip replacement or heart surgeries are often advised to take this medication.

However, little is discussed up front about Xarelto when it comes to side effects of taking the drug. Patients are likely to experience spinal hematomas, abnormal bleeding, brain hemorrhaging, heart attacks, stokes, and worse –death. When bleeding does occur while taking Xarelto, and if the bleeding worsens, hospitals can’t really do much and the bleeding could lead to death. These side effects, especially bleeding, is due to the fact that until now, there is no antidote to Xarelto.

Why is this important?

The Solution. In May 2018, the FDA approved of an antidote but it’s still too early to say that the said antidote is effective and is proven to reverse bleeding among patients. That’s why Xarelto must be banned and production should be put to a stop.
