Petition to Calderdale Council: Improvements to Taxi Licensing Services

In particular, we ask the Council to:
• Improve comfort for drivers and basic facilities at the taxi testing centre, including access to toilets, sheltered waiting area and access to refreshments.
• Improve turnaround times for the issuing and replacement of licence plates.
• Expand taxi licensing office opening hours to make the service more accessible for working drivers.
• Increase the number of available compliance test slots to reduce delays and disruption to drivers’ livelihoods.
• The local authority formally consult and engage with the concerns of the Taxi industry and Drivers

Those working in the taxi industry across Calderdale should be recognised as workers that are vital to the success and upkeep of the local economy. Those working within the industry sustain our night time economy and provide an invaluable service to residents.
It is right that those who work all hours of day/night have their most basic needs met by the local authority.
