Plaque to commemorate Frederick Douglass 1847 visit to Coventry

In 1847 the famous abolitionist and escaped slave, Frederick Douglass visited Coventry and gave a speech at St mary's guildhall. The people of Coventry later raised funds to help Douglass to buy his own freedom. We are asking Coventry city council to install a plaque, preferably on or near to the Guildhall, to commemorate this visit and the part played by the people of Coventry in freeing Frederick Douglass.

Why is this important?

This is important as Coventry is the city of peace and reconciliation and will soon be city of culture
