Protect young fans: let’s kick gambling ads out of football

Put young fans ahead of profits and kick gambling ads out of football.

Why is this important?

Children can’t legally gamble - so why are they flooded by gambling ads every time they watch football?

From shirt sponsorship and pitch-side hoardings to stadium branding and in-game promotions, gambling companies have taken over the game. Loopholes in the current system mean fans are still exposed to relentless gambling ads during live matches.

And it’s getting worse. More and more gambling messages are being shown, while new commercial deals - like FIFA’s partnerships to allow gambling operators to livestream World Cup games and show gambling ads in stadiums - are embedding gambling even deeper into the game.

Football should bring communities together, not normalise gambling for the next generation. With the World Cup set to introduce millions of young fans to football, now is the moment to stop gambling ads dominating the game.

That’s why we’re calling on the Government to kick gambling ads out of football for good.
