Public Transport Not Road Building in the West of England

Public Transport Not Road Building in the West of England

Scrap the road building and widening plans in the Joint Local Transport Plan. In a climate emergency any available funds must be used to improve public transport, walking and cycling.

Why is this important?

The Joint Local Transport Plan for the West of England contains plans for 10 new roads and 5 big road-widening schemes. These plans will damage the countryside, increase traffic, pollution and carbon emissions, when WECA and all four authorities have declared climate emergencies. The Transport Plan also contains big plans for public transport, but the money to fund those plans has not been secured. Reasons for signing

  • Road building is a solution from the past
  • The climate crisis means we need to cut traffic by 40%. We need less roads, not more.
  • because I want the same in the East too!
