Reduce noise pollution from the Victoria Line
Noise pollution from the Victoria Line tunnels is severely affecting residential properties in the Blackhorse Road and St James’s areas of E17, especially on the days it runs 24 hours.
We call on TfL to take immediate and sustained measures to reduce this impact, including:
Regular grinding of the rails between Blackhorse Road and Walthamstow Central;
Replacing worn and out dated track equipment;
Install further noise reduction measures in the areas of tunnels directly under residential properties, including acoustic insulation under the rails and in the tunnel lining;
Install or fund acoustic insulation for the worst affected residential properties

Why is this important?
The noise pollution is affecting the lives of those who live in properties above or close to the tunnels. The noise - which has become significantly louder recently - takes away many of the usual comforts expected of a home, interrupts sleep and makes the house an unwelcome place to be. The very high frequency of the Victoria Line only compounds these problems.
