Refuse permission for a 19-bed adult supported living complex extension in Hester Street Northampton

Please object to a planning application for a 19 bed supported living complex and staff housing at 1-3 Hester Street covering all the land and concreting the large garden at the former Jesus Army Dayspring House.
Our petition isn't about rejecting people who need safe homes and good care. Our objection is to the development plan, which is not suitable for either the number of residents nor proposed small staff. The existing building could be developed differently to this plan, without the additional building as proposed and car access road.

Why is this important?

This proposal for full planning permission would impact the entire street, which already has two hostels and many flats and homes of multiple occupancy. Hester Street and the wider Semilong area suffers from parking problems and this would remove at least two on-street parking spaces and cause noise and disturbance for existing residents already blighted by noise, night-time disturbance, crime, fly-tipping, over-flowing bins and drug-dealing. There is no room for a further 22 residents who will put further pressure of resources like GPs and pharmacy services. A new road crossing the existing pavement will cause danger and disturbance to residents and pedestrians on an already busy one-way street which frequently has near misses due to people driving the wrong way.

This proposal is totally unsuitable for the street which is already neglected and ignored by the council.
